Not With Eyes But I Saw

I was suddenly transported but I was still conscious of what I'm doing at the moment. I was in the mind of someone. It was a small girl, very much like what I was when I was that age. Around the age of 8 to 10, curious about anything and everything. Definitely with my own concept of things and the world around me.

I was this girl and this girl was me. We were one and the same at the moment.

There's something going on in the town where I live. My town is a small town with a small population of simple town folks. Their occupations involves farming, vegetable sellers, fish mongers, gold & jewellry owners, retailers, sundry/grocery shop owners, just simple jobs.

A group of us kids went around to investigate the strange incident that happened in the town unknown to the police and the other grown-ups. Things start to happen and us kids get excited and involved deeper and deeper in our own investigation.

Sometimes grown-ups do not see us kids and we can find out things on our own. Usually, the grown-ups would let us "play" on our own so we won't get in their way. They have their grown-up things to do. So we hear things when we remain "unseen" and we see things that were not meant to be seen by either kids or other grown-ups. Especially other grown-ups and the police.

Then, things get to be too hot and dangerous for the kids to handle. One of them gets detained by the bad guys and it's time to call in the calvary.

I call up my aunt who works for a private investigator in KL. Sometimes she takes cases for her boss and does surveillance and other investigating stuff. I brief her on everything that's happened and she promises to come over to Simpang Ampat to help us. My aunt, Lynn, is the coolest aunt anyone could ever have. She's my hero. That's what I told my friends. If anyone can help Shan Chi, my aunt Lynn can do it.

And then I am myself again, driving to work.

What did you see today?

I saw faces. Friendly faces. Some smiling, warm and approachable. It made my day pleasant and bearable. I went home without stress.

A smile is all it takes to make a person's day. Sometimes it goes unnoticed. Sometimes it escapes into a hectic day and dissolves like what happens to a puff of smoke.

Be conscious of every smile and return one likewise. It can make someone's day brighter and help someone through a horrible day.

A smile costs nothing. Give it freely and receive the same freely.
